    Copyright laws protect content like that as long as it is not distributed.

    The RIAA can use scare tactics on people all it wants. The fact is, you own the content and you may use it how you like, so long as it is not being distributed.

    I sincerely hope that the existance of the RIAA and its lawyers costs the music industry a ton of money. It's cost them a ton of respect.

    The only reason that you can argue that the DMCA protects USERS is because of fair use. Fair use isn't defined anywhere. Judges have just let people off because they were "nice" infractions. It is still illegal to bypass a copy protection and all that, but because people were doing it for personal use they got off. The RIAA wants to change all that now

    I agree with the RIAA 100%. I think we should start instituting a 10-day waiting period for purchasing music CDs. Something similar to when you purchase a handgun. We need to do background checks on these people that are running around with CDs that can be copied.
