    Nerd Bet - Help!

I have not played WoW since the start of summer (5 months or so) and I jumped on last night to my well geared guild... Because they are all real life friends and I am a cocky asshole who rocks at PvP I started talking smack about how gear would not help and how I could still kick all there asses. Well.. there is one exception, my buddy who plays a Warlock.

Tonight at 10PM server time (Pacific) me and my buddy are going heads up for 10:1 bet, my 100g could be come 1000. He gave me odds... he also said if I win he will delete his character and he does not lie. While I probably won't let him delete I sure as hell want to win.

So... I am looking for tips and tricks to beat this Warlock:

I've never played a mage at 70, but im guessing locks own mages most of the time. Here's what I'm guessing you need to do:

    los/range fears
keep him sheeped till first pet dies
if you can cs the second pet summon then steal his fel dom you will win
if you dont get it off maybe you will get lucky and he'll summon a void for the 2nd round instead of a fel. save your icy veins and 2nd pet for this
ice block once you are full of dots (obv)

Steal his fell demon? Spell steal? What's on his fel demon?

Also.. what flask, pots, enchants could I get to put me near his gear level?

You just simply cannot beat a warlock as a mage. Especially since he actually has some pvp gear.

no, he uses fel domination to summon the second pet in like 1 second. if you have a pet up, you can possibly get a knock back for when he starts summoning which will give you time to cs him. then when he's cs'd you can spellsteal the buff. then go full pew pew on him to take him down.

and there are no buffs you can use to make up for the gear differential. only thing using a flask will do is make him lol that you:

    1. used a flask in a duel
    2. used a flask and then lost in a duel

id suggest camping durotar for a few hours before you duel and trying some different strats out on locks before you duel him

I think in a duel, it's very possible for him to beat the warlock. He is out geared for sure though. But 2 ice blocks, a dirty little pet.

im inclined to agree with skoofz on this. I've played both Mage and Lock.

Lock completely pwns any other cloth wearer, period.

    Consider your 100 gold lost.

Edit: especially a soul-linked warlock. He'll just fuck around with you until you run out of mana, and then beat you to death with his bare hands.
Go to work, send your kids to school.
    Follow fashion, act normal.
Walk on the pavement, watch T.V.
Save for your old age, obey the law.
Repeat after me: I am free.

check ah for shadow resist gear and keep your fire ward up (obv)

you may want to try and respec into fire to get molten shields as well.

469 resilience on that lock, and he doubles your spell damage which is pretty impressive considering he's SL/SL. He also has almost 13k HP plus another 20% if you go after him instead of his pet. You can sheep him and try to burst the pet, but I doubt that you can do it twice (fel dom).

I think you are going to get rocked, if you don't kill the felhunter (twice) you will get spell locked which is game over for a deep frost mage.

Then again, his rating is only 1500s which unless he has tanked his teams, means he either has shitty partners or isn't very good himself.

If you can get 200 shadow resist between now and when you duel and follow the above instructions, you should be able to win.

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it, some good ideas.

To be clear I have been playing since beta so I have a fair idea of what I am doing... but definitely open to ideas.

I beat Warlocks senseles... it's not as easy as a Melee fight but it's all about burst damage.

This is a good idea for sure.. I usually avoid taking down the pet because of the fast resummon.. but your saying I can CS + Spellsteal and he cant quick resummon?

To be clear that big bastard can be frost novaed, right?... sorry, rusty

This isn't your starndar out in front of ogrimmar duel.. I am not looking to fight with honor or anything here.

I want this 1000g... plus.. i am rocking 8.5k hp and hes up near 13k... this is not an easy fight. He knows this... he can't say shit even if I do bust out a flask.

yes voids dont have resistances like fel puppies and yes if you cs him then he cant resummon for a few seconds at which point you can steal his fel dom. you need to steal his other buffs prior to this

Again I think the shadow resist is about 100x more important than a flask, but check ah for flask of pure death.
