yeah, and we definately can't eliminate federal income tax if we stay in iraq at 10 billion a month.

Go to work, send your kids to school.
Follow fashion, act normal.
Walk on the pavement, watch T.V.
Save for your old age, obey the law.
Repeat after me: I am free.

Congress in 1913.
It was meant to purchase and sell gold, thus constricting/expanding the money supply and affecting interest rates. At times it would act as a lender.
It was also only supposed to be in existence for 20 years--being granted some sort of a permanence prior to that (probably due to stock market crash).
The federal reserve of today is completely different to what it was when it was created (just as everything else has evolved).

If I had to describe the reasons for the recent economic issues, the word "simple" would not be one of them.
And a serious question here......what specifically is Obamas blame in the economic blowout?
this country was founded on the idea of NO FED INCOME TAX
its a US of A is a federalist republic and fed income tax is not supported by our constitution. the only real reason for the fed government is foreign policy and defense... all other services are the states problems.
the more local the government the better it can take care of its citizens and the easier it is for unliked candidates to be voted out of office....
on the note of what about disasters ... who cares fuck 'em... no each state can decide for themselves or setup a system they all agree upon instead of the fed government just deciding for us.
If NO/LA was able to tax their citizens on the level the federal government does today, the local government would definitely have improved the levies long before the hurricane ever hit. It's not like it was a surprise to them when the levies broke. They knew if they were ever hit with a big one, they were toast.
Bad news is that short of a revolution, there's really no way that the power is going to shift back to the states.
