    New computer possibility

Have a friend who was putting something together for me that looked like this:

    AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition Quad Core 3.2gHz - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103808
    MSI Mobo with 880 chipset
    PNY 8GB DDR3 RAM
    ATI 5830 1GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-502-_-Product
    1TB 7200 RPM hard drive
    Antec 600 case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%20600
    550W OCZ Modstream power supply
    Dual layer DVD burner
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Nero 7 Ultimate
    Office 2007

Price was $550 out the door. Looks to me like a good deal, anyone else have any thoughts or can vouch for some of this hardware?

    This is for gaming right?
If so, just make sure you get the best bang for the buck with the videocard. I'm pretty sure ATI/AMD has the new hot ticket for best performance per dollar, but I don't remember which card specifically.

    Otherwise good to go.

I'd get a intel chip. . . Core i5 2500k or Core i7 2600k. K means it's unlocked and you can OC these things to hell and back on air.

Follow the above link for the best bang for your budget.

And hopefully you'll get some games that I play so we can tear ass together again.

Overall Intel is better but for the extremely low entry price you have to go with AMD.

I agree, if it's a budget deal get an AMD. Overall though you'll get a longer haul out of an intel chip, plus more performance. CPU/GPU is a majority of what games use now. 6-8 gigs of Ram is the sweet spot.
