    rant

California Assemblyman Don Perata (D-Oakland) is sponsoring a bill which will allow victims of gun crimes to sue the gun manufacturers for negligence. He is also the mastermind behind the ban on the so-called "assault weapons" and "Saturday night specials."

I don't mind if anyone wants to pass laws banning guns if he genuinly believes in the relationship of guns and crimes and the inability of guns in self protection and crime deterant. At least that man will be honest and believes in his cause. Perata, however, is a hypocrite. He has a concealed carry permit. He carries a gun for self-protection. What is he trying to tell us here? His life is worth protecting, but not yours or mine? He's the big shot in Sacramento and deserves to live no matter the cost? Democrats call themselves the "people's party." They want to be "inclusive" rather than "exclusive." Well, this looks pretty exclusive to me. He's a law maker, so he's important and deserves protection, while the rest of us have to depend on the police. Not to belittle the police, but the 3 minutes it takes them to get to me might be enough to get me killed.

I am a gun owner and a gun collector. I love guns, both for their practicality and their esthetic value. If you don't like guns then don't own one. Don't make it so the rest of us can't own one. If you want to outlaw guns then do it right, repeal the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.
Trust me. I know what I am doing.

Yup I heard about that too.

I don't think the bill will go any farther than it has... It just barely passed senate (though, I don't know the exact numbers).

It's really stupid, It's basically like saying the same thing w/ cameras and child pornography...

Holding the manufacturer of the camera liable isn't gonna stop pervs/criminals from taking the pictures. Even moreso, it will make people commit the crime knowing they will not be pinned w/ the charges, but Nikon, Minolta, Sony and Cannon will.

He also proposed legislation to add a FIVE CENT TAX to every SINGLE bullet you purchase. Buy a box of 50 bullets, pay $2.50 in tax. It applys to all bullets. Like to shoot a .22 at targets? Buy a box of 100 .22 bullets, pay $5.00 in TAX... nickle per bullet, no matter what the caliber. Now, fortunately for us, even some of the Democrats could see how ridiculous that was and it appears destined for the round file. Won't know for sure until the end of August sometime.

SENATOR Don Perata is quoted as saying on his renewal (damn bastard has been carrying concealed weapons since before he started all his gun bans) for his CCW (Carry Concealed Weapon) permit, "...my public policy efforts to seek rational regulation of firearms have engendered the enmity of some individuals who have made overt threats on my life and the well-being of my family. The rapidly expanding access and anonymous use of the internet have measurably added to this problem..." Well, there are NO documented threats and NO crime report was ever written. There are no investigations on any threats supposedly made to this cigar smoking fat cat Democrat. Making threats to an elected official is VERY serious. More lies, typical politician...

So after he gets done outlawing guns and putting all the gun makers out of business, what's he gonna do... Make ISP's liable for threats, sin, and poor parenting practices?

He's already proposed legislation that would REQUIRE bicycle registration (similar to vehicle registration), you know, so we can get the license plate of that hit & run bike or that bank robbers bicycle license plate number What a buffoon !!! Typical Bay Area Democrat. WTF do they have in the water up there ???

To top that off, he is campaigning to end California's TERM LIMITS. He wants to end term limits before his term expires... I wonder why. So he can devour more bits and pieces of your constitutional rights? (if you care)

    Blah

All I've got to say is rock on x[con]! I'm a gun owner/lover myself and I find it truly sad the misconceptions and myths that non-gun owners/users hold about firearms in general. As I've always maintained, many of those who commit crimes with firearms, per the laws on the books today, should not own or have had access to firearms. In other words, they're not supposed to have a firearm, but yet they do--so what will further laws do to stop these people from obtaining guns since they already obtain them illegally. It's called enforcing the laws that already exist, not creating new ones..."CRIME CONTROL, NOT GUN CONTROL." Ok, I'm done with my political speech now. = ) But hey, one last thing...you guys are only finding about about these bills now?! I've been watching them for some time. And Meatman, if my memory servers me correctly, many gun advocates have declared the five cent per ammo component defeated...as is the attempted ban on .50 caliber rifles.

Yeah Vinnie, most all the groups oppoing the tax have declared it dead but the California Legislature hasn't yet, officially. Until they do, it's still a possibility. The fickle ways of politicians may revive it but it looks to be dead. Although, it can be revived at any time in the future legislative sessions as well.

I happen to be very close to a California State Assemblyman in one of the San Diego County Districts. All I have to do is ask and he keeps me up to date on that stuff and other note worthy items... the tax ain't completely dead yet.

Actually, the ammo tax is the LEAST of our recreational gun owners worries, but I'll spare you the soap box speech

Yeah Red it's what I'm getting at man, America is slowly becoming more and more communist/fascist. It's is ironic though how for all those years we were fighting against both of them and now we are becoming like them.

Something to keep in mind is this...

A long time ago (in a galaxy far far away ) there were many, many people who were very anarchist. Communism wasn't a "bad" thing to them, however, the dictatorship that came with it was. Many of them lived in "communes" or in residences housing large groups of them. Most of them were college students. They ate mullet and smoked herb, and did a lot of other mind altering substances. They were known then as, "hippies". Many of those "hippies" became highly educated (at taxpayer expense) and grew up to become powerful politicians, lawyers, educators themselves, and very powerful corporate executives. They know how to use the system and they play the game very well.

They lived, breathed, ate, and shit the ideals our government fought to suppress... communism. I don't mean they were Communists, but their ideals were parallel, if not identical (aside from dictatorial rule). Many of them now make our laws, enact new ones, enforce them, and treat our constitution like play-dough. They bend it and shape it to whatever suits their vision or their own self-serving ways. It seems to me the current vision is "the same way of life for everyone"... but them of course. As someone else wisely pointed out, Democrats call themselves the "people's party." They want to be "inclusive" rather than "exclusive." But, as we have seen, they are quite the contrary in many cases. And it's not just "Democrats" either. It includes all the parties to an extent.

That, by no means, is the entire story, but it's true to a large extent. The "big picture" cannot be explained in so simple of terms and the complexity of our government, laws, and those who enact/enforce them is almost beyond understanding. The only way to be heard is to vote. Too many people have no desire to be heard or feel they will not be heard no matter how loud they yell. Mostly, many people just don't give a fuck and that's the saddest excuse of them all. But, if everyone would register and vote, it would make a huge difference.
